Inquiry-Based Learning by Kath Murdoch

Inquiry-based learning  starts by posing questions, problems, or scenarios -- rather than simply presenting established facts or portraying a smooth path to knowledge. The process is often assisted by a facilitator. Inquirers will identify and research issues and questions to develop their knowledge or solutions. Inquiry-based learning includes problem-based learning and is generally used in small-scale investigations and projects, as well as research. Problem-Based Learning: A student-centered pedagogy

Problem-based learning or in shorter way is PBL, it is a student-centered pedagogy in which students will learn context of complex, multifaceted and realistic problems. My goals in PBL to help the students:  - Develop flexible knowledge - Effective problem solving skills - Self-directed learning - Effective collaboration skills - Intrinsic motivation Using the Six core characteristics of Problem-Based Learning: - Consists of student-centred learning - Learning occurs in small groups - Teachers act as facilitators or guides (referred to as tutors) - A problem forms the basis for organised focus and stimulus for learning - Problems stimulate the development and use of problem solving skills - New knowledge is obtained through means of self-directed learning I will be a facilitator of learning who provides appropriate scaffolding and support of the process, modelling of the process, and monitoring the learning.
